Portfolio Behaviour of Nigerian Commercial Banks: A Decomposition Analysis
The asset portfolio behaviour of Nigerian commercial banks has changed as a result of the increasing number of banks and other financial intermediaries and the central bank's policies. The decomposition analysis of the data for the decade 1962-72 shows that changes in assets were almost independent of structural changes in liabilities. The central bank has also played an important role in bringing about these changes.
