The Results of the Awaritefe Psychological Index and Crown Crisp Experiental Index on Nigerian Prisoners and Relationship with Duration of Confinement

This study examines the relationship between period of confinement in prison (duration) and psycho-pathology (API and CCEI). Data were gathered from a random sample of 150 prisoners from four medium prisons in Nigeria, with a mean age of 27.8 years (SD=7.1). The longer a person stays in prison, the more adverse effect imprisonment has on his mental health or that prolonged incarceration causes severe psychological disturbances.
