Women Trafficking and Women Prostitution in Selected Local Government Areas in Mid-West Nigeria
The paper examines the socio-economic consequences of women trafficking and Women Prostitution as well as its implications on national development. A sampled representative of 280 respondents comprising 32 victims and 253 other respondents were randomly selected from two states in the mid- west Nigeria for the study. Findings revealed that breakdown in the cultural norms guiding sexual conduct coupled with a stark reality of poverty among others are factors responsible for this.
