A Structural Analysis of State Government Finance in the South- West of Nigeria

The allocation of budget of the defunct South- West Regional Government was used together with those of other sub-national governments in selected countries in Africa and Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to assess those of four South- West States of Nigeria. The study found that the four South- West States devoted higher percentages of budgets to general administration, governors’ offices, and parliamentarians than obtained during the Regional Government days.
