Since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu assumed office in May 2023, Nigeria has been caught between two competing stories: an official narrative of bold economic reform and a lived reality of deepening poverty. This paper analyses the first three years of the Tinubu administration through social contract theory as its primary analytical lens.
