Comparing Early Post-Independence Nigeria with the Contemporary Nigerian Economy: Structural Transformation, Institutions and Welfare, 1960–2025: A Critical Historical-comparative study with statistical analysis

This study compares Nigeria’s early post-independence political economy, defined principally as 1960–1980, with the contemporary democratic and reform economy, defined as 1999–2025, while using 1981–1998 as a bridging period for statistical tests. The title is conceptually refined because contemporary Nigeria is itself post-independence; the valid comparison is therefore between phases of the same post-colonial trajectory rather than between ‘post-independence’ and a separate contemporary condition.
