Stress and coping mechanisms among Police Officers in Nigeria: A National Qualitative Study

Abstract Policing is one of the most rewarding occupations; however, it is stressful and demanding. This study was designed to explore stress, stress management, and coping mechanisms among Nigerian Police Officers working across four geopolitical zones in Nigeria. Using an exploratory design, forty in-depth interviews (IDIs) were conducted with police officers. Data was collected using an interview guide.
