Pregnancy denial, neonaticide and catastrophic postpartum haemorrhage after unassisted hostel delivery in an adolescent university student: A Nigerian case report

Adolescent pregnancy remains a major public health challenge in Nigeria, particularly when pregnancies are concealed or denied. Pregnancy denial and unsafe abortion practices may predispose adolescents to catastrophic maternal and neonatal outcomes, especially in low-resource settings. We report the case of a 17-year-old undergraduate student in southwestern Nigeria who presented unconscious with massive vaginal bleeding following an unassisted hostel delivery.
