Pragmatic versus radical nonalignment systems
Non-alignment as a sub-system on the African continent, has developed a general character of its own. However, within this international subsystem are a number of variations in policy, style, and tactics. These variations arise from the differing conditions of development and viewpoints of leaders. In any assessment of the nature of African non-alignment, its strengths and weaknesses, these distinctions must be brought out. No two African states follow an identical non-alignment policy.
