Compliance with WTO law in developing countries: A study of South Africa and Nigeria.

This is a legal impact study. Its concern is the effectiveness of WTO law and its focus is the compliance behaviour of developing countries. Article XVI:4 of the WTO Agreement provides: "Each Member shall ensure the conformity of its laws, regulations and administrative procedures with its obligations as provided in the annexed Agreements" In the light of this overarching compliance obligation, this thesis examines the behavioural impact of WTO law, and investigates the preconditions for its effectiveness.
