Peacekeeping in Sierra Leone: The story of UNAMSIL, by Funmi Olonisakin

At its full strength, UNAMSIL, the United Nations military mission in Sierra Leone, was the largest peacekeeping operation in the world. It was launched in April 2000 as a replacement for a Nigerian-dominated regional peacekeeping force. UNAMSIL's role was to protect a tenuous peace agreed at Lomé in mid-1999.
