TRADE UNIONISM AND THE NIGERIAN WORKER IN THE CONTE XT OF CONTRASTING ENVIRONMENT
The paper examines the trend of trade union movemen t in Nigeria and its impact on workers emancipation using contrasting political climate in the country as point of reference. It traces the h istory of trade union movement from two pre-colonial perio ds to contemporary time. It also considers the leve l of class-consciousness among the Nigerian workers i ncluding the extent to which their involvement in trade unionism has enhanced their socio-economic an d political status.
