DD\X\GRA/8 | Kenyon family and naval career of Commander George Kenyon R. N. | Paper-covered log books kept by Commander Kenyon, giving daily particulars of weather, course, bearings and working of ship. The 'Cygnet' was commissioned at Sheerness and engaged in cruising off the coast of Africa between Lagos and the Congo. There are references to the capture of prizes, the arrest of slave ships (12 Dec. 1848; 26 Jan. 1849; 22 Mar. 1849) and the negotiation of a treaty with the king and chiefs of Corisco and the giving of rewards (6-7 Jan. 1849).
