Nigeria - Digital Value Chain Infrastructure for Boosting Employment (D-VIBE) - Project Appraisal Report

Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country and West Africa’s largest market, but per capita income has declined as population outpaced economic growth. With an estimated 237 million people6 expanding by 2.1%, the population is projected to double in the next 33 years, adding sustained pressure on resources and public services. While real GDP growth has remained moderate and fluctuated (3.6% in 2021, 2.9% in 2023, 3.4% in 2024 and 3.98% in 2025), Naira depreciation through 2023 and 2024 reduced GDP per capita from USD 2,361 in 2019 to USD 817 in 2024.
