Nigeria’s rapid population growth and rate of urbanization are key drivers of the pressure on the demand for decent and affordable housing and other social infrastructure. With an estimated total population of about 200 million people, a population growth rate of about 2.6%, an increasing rate of urbanization estimated at about 4.3% per annum with the urban population estimated at about 50.3% in 2018, Nigeria currently has a huge housing deficit. In 2019, it was estimated that there was a backlog of 17million housing units to address the housing needs of the ever growing population.
