Impact of Taxes on Revenue Generation in Nigeria (A Study of Federal Government)

This paper investigated the effect of taxes on revenue generation in Nigeria from 1981 to 2016, a period of thirty five 35 years and the data for the analysis were sourced from Central Bank of Nigeria's CBN, 2016 Statistical Bulletin. The variables used include total federally collected revenue as a proxy for revenue generation, labour, gross capital formation, company income tax, petroleum profit tax, personal income tax, value added tax, custom and excise tax, direct tax and indirect tax.
