Shell In Nigeria (1)

During the 1980's, US activists played a large role in undermining Shell Oil's backing of the apartheid regime. But Nigerians suffering under Sani Abacha's dictatorship have not been the recipients of such widespread public support. Shell has been accused of arming the brutal militia that enforce the company's security policies and, in 1996, Ogoni activist Ken Saro-Wiwa was executed by the dictatorship.
