The Brief Assessment of Cognition in Schizophrenia (BACS) is a brief battery covering cognitive domains commonly affected in schizophrenia, but its interpretation depends on culturally and linguistically appropriate reference data. This study is the normative-validation phase of a broader programme and will culturally adapt the BACS for English, Yoruba and Nigerian Pidgin, evaluate psychometric performance in community-dwelling adults, and develop language-specific normative reference equations for adults resident in Lagos, Nigeria.
