Are we ready to eliminate malaria in Nigeria? Knowledge of National Malaria Treatment Guidelines among Patent Medicine Vendors in Nigeria
Nigeria which bears the highest global malaria burden has committed to malaria elimination as a national goal by 2030. Achieving this presupposes the consistent delivery of guideline-adherent care across all points of service. In Nigeria, Proprietary Patent Medicine Vendors (PPMVs) are the most frequently used providers for malaria care. This study aims to evaluate their knowledge of Nigeria’s National Malaria Treatment Guidelines (NMTG), and to identify gaps that undermine national efforts to control malaria.
