Prevalence, associated factors, clinical outcomes, and control of hypertension among people living with HIV in Nigeria: a systematic review and meta-analysis
The increasing availability and effectiveness of antiretroviral therapy (ART) have substantially improved survival among people living with HIV (PLHIV), making chronic non-communicable diseases increasingly important in long-term HIV care. Hypertension is particularly important because it is a major modifiable cardiovascular risk factor, while PLHIV may experience additional cardiovascular risk related to ageing, chronic inflammation, metabolic abnormalities and ART exposure
