Stakeholders, institutional roles and dengue fever response pathways in Nigeria: a systematic review.

Dengue fever is a tropical, vector-borne disease of growing public health concern in Nigeria and globally. Climatic conditions, rapid urbanisation, and ecological factors create a favourable environment for Aedes mosquito proliferation, contributing to sustained viral transmission. Although studies and outbreak reports indicate that dengue virus circulates widely, the disease remains substantially under-recognised in Nigeria due to misdiagnosis as malaria, limited diagnostic capacity, and underreporting within routine surveillance systems.
