Beyond western casework: Mapping Indigenous and Faith-Based Models of Psychosocial Support in Nigerian Health Literature - A Scoping Review Protocol (2010-2026)

Medical social work practice in Nigeria was inherited from the British colonial welfare system in the 1950s (Agbakwuru and Ibe 2021). The dominant theories underpinning its practice—systems theory, crisis intervention, and task-centred models—are predominantly Euro-American and individualistic in orientation.
