STRATEGIES FOR PREVENTION OF HYPERGLYCAEMIC EMERGENCIES IN NIGERIA.

Abstract The mortality and morbidity of acute metabolic complications of diabetes, particularly DKA and HHS are unacceptably high in Nigeria. Prevention of occurrence of these hyperglycaemic emergencies (HE) is the only rational way for a resource poor country like Nigeria. Prevention requires careful identification of precipitating factors of HE.
