The transport sector has been identified as one of the key sectors that will contribute towards social and economic development and the attainment of the country's Vision 20:2020 (NV 20:2020) for a place among the Top 20 World Economies, directly and indirectly. Directly, the sector provides offfarm employment opportunities to the poor, whilst indirectly it plays a complementary role in stimulating production activities and improvement in the social services.
