Nigeria - Kainji and Jebba Hydro Power Plant Rehabilitation Project - ESIA Summary

This document is a non-technical summary report of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) for the rehabilitation of Kainji and Jebba hydro power plants (HPP) in Nigeria prepared by Mainstream Energy Solutions (Mainstream). Both hydro plants are located in the Niger River in Niger State in north-central Nigeria. The Kainji hydro power plant (Kainji HPP) was constructed in 1968. The Kainji HPP dam creates a reservoir 136km long, holding approximately 15 billion m³ of water. The main dam is 550m long with a height of 64m.
