DTIC ADA032794: Immunity to Malaria Parasites.

A standard procedure for the growth and multiplication of P. falciparum in human blood in microtissue culture trays is described. Out of over 100 Gambian and 80 Nigerian sera tested for their ability to inhibit reinvasion of P. falciparum in vitro, relatively few were strongly inhibitory. Some sera were inhibitory to parasites from some donors but not from others. The heterogeneous nature of the P. falciparum populations could account for this.
