Nigeria - Integrated Management of Invasive Aquatic Weeds Project (IMIAWP) - Project Completion Report (PCR)
The menace of aquatic weeds (Water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) and Water fern (Salvinia molesta), and Water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes)) has been a major source of concern in the management of major multinational water bodies in Nigeria. Most riparian communities along these water bodies are faced with critical challenges in the areas of local transportation, increasing health problems and most importantly decrease in household income due to menace of aquatic invasive weeds on their waterways.
