Niger - Samira-Libiri Gold Project - ESIA Summary

The African GeoMin Mining Development CorporationLtd. through the intermediary of its subsidiary, the Société des Mines du Liptako (SML), has started the mining of a gold deposit in Niger and requests ADB’s participation in the funding of the project. The processing plant will use the conventional charcoal-cyanide leaching technique and process up to 6000 tonnes of ore per day from the three Samira and Libiri mines. The life ofthe mine will be about seven years; the project will go beyond the mining period to enable the rehabilitation ofthe sites and their environmental monitoring.
