Nigeria - Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Program-Phase I (ATASP-I)

The Agricultural Transformation Agenda Support Program Phase 1 (ATASP-1) was conceived at a time when Nigeria faced critical challenges in food security occasioned by low productivity and production and sub-optimal harvested area. For example, in the year 2012, out of the estimated 5.7 million mt of milled rice consumed, only 3.423 million mt (60%) was produced locally from a harvested area of 2.864 million hectares at an estimated national average paddy rice yield of 2 mt/ha.
